Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

NET uses the process of story-telling to support the processing of traumatic events. The National Institute for Health Care Excellence (NICE) recommends NET as a treatment option for PTSD and other trauma related conditions. NET can be particularly helpful for those who have experienced complex trauma. This might include surviving prolonged abuse, having experience war or of being a refugee. Through the process of story-telling, one can confront and integrate traumatic memories into a coherent narrative, which aids processing. This can help to reduce trauma related distress and emotional intensity.
